Burden on Indian Democracy

In British India, the British Parliament used to appoint a Governor General to manage the entire nation. Governor General used to appoint Governors for nine provinces. Each Governor appoints District Collector to manage the district. So, with just a few hundred British Civil Services officers, they ruled the country for three hundred years.

In fact, the British Administration was so effective; people had no complaints; only a few intellectuals started to demand for right to govern India. They also didn't demand for total cut-off from the British Empire. Only Mohandas Karamchand Gnadhi raised the demand for quit India.

There were a few British officers were arrogant towards the people. Otherwise, most of them built a very good relationship with people. Arthur C. Clark loved Ceylon; he spent the rest of his life in that island.

Still, Canada has the Governor General. In India, we changed the Governor General post into the President. People used to get confused with the President of United States with the President of India.

President of India is a cerimonial post. President of India has no authority; has no responsibility; but has stability for five years.

Managing a ceremonial president is an unnecessary burden on Indian Democracy. A few presidents of India used that opportunity to build the character of the people; especially the future generation. But for many, the Rashtrapathi Bhavan is a retired home for senior citizens.

The President of India itself a burden on Indian Democracy. In addition, we have the Vice President. Again the same goes true for the vice president too. Even the Vice President of United States of America also has no responsibility; and no authority too.

Governors of the state. Same story here.

For a healthy body, you need to first lose the unwanted, unnecessary fat, which has been accumulated over a period of time. Likewise, we need to take a fresh look at all these ceremonial posts. Do we need them? Is this the only way to honor our political leaders;. Do they deserve it?

Things are now becoming obvious. Every citizen could easily see these burdens of democracy. It is only a matter of time. It cannot last forever.

Without get rid of these burden, India cannot move forward.

In United States of America, not even a single position is just a ceremonial post. There is no position without authority; without responsibility.

Every position in American democracy has clearly defined authority; responsibility and stability.

Leaders with a huge burden of political party cannot take this action. In fact, leaders of Congress and BJP has to create more and more of ceremonial posts to satisfy the need of their employees.

It is so surprising; Narendra Modi declared three months bonus to all workers in their party. So far, people are under the impression that these political organizations are managed by volunteers.  Now it sounds like an organization with employment opportunities.

How about RSS? Do they have volunteers or employed workers? How do they fix their salary? Do they get bonus only or stock options too?

Pretty soon, all these political parties would be listed in stock exchange.

Salary and Bonus for party workers !

Those Russian communists have to learn from India about managing a political organization. Had they got salary and bonus, our communists would have been millionaires by now.

What is the source of income for these political parties?

Do they come under tax audit?

So, except character of integrity our political leaders are demonstrating their excellent business management skills.
