Don't make in India

It took two decades to change the perception of the Americans and of other Westerners about India.

They strongly believed that India is full of magicians who could make the rope go up; India is full of snakes; India has lepers; plague; and other communicable diseases. It took two decades time and millions of software professionals to change that perception about India.

Again it two decades to make them to understand that in India people from many religions live together.  India is not just for Hindu. No foreign media had a news headline with exclamation mark; when Abdul Kalam became the President of India.

When A.R.Rahman walked on the stage in Hollywood; not even a single person asked; whether A.R.Rahman is from Pakistan or Bangladesh or India.

In fact, for more than three centuries, Americans had been using the word 'Indian' to refer to Native Americans. They used to refer Vivekananda, Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and others as a Hindu from India.  It is only now; they started using the word 'Native Americans' and Indians for desi.

During Vajpayee and then Manmohan Singh period, they got the courage to visit India. Now, they love to visit India.

Business people would love to come to India and love to make in India.

Provided...provided India continues to be India.

In America, people are bored with two party system; it is like Coke and Pepsi.

China is a single party system.

India, it is multi party system. Lot of political entertainment; people enjoy entertainment.

Indira Gandhi model was the best for the given constitution.
For center, it is us; for state, it is you.
You don't come to center; and we don't come to state.
That has been working good for four or five decades.

Now, Narendra Modi is trying to make India as China.
China has a single party; for center; state; municipal; all are one single party.
Likewise, India will become another China.

The very first thing that will be affected is; Come, Make in India.

All those American CEO complain so much about Democrats and Republican.
But nobody; even in their imagination; give up American citizenship and take oath in China or India.

They may be a homeless beggar; but still would like to enjoy total freedom.

So, even in another five hundred years, no country could become a nation with total and complete freedom for their citizens.

So the point is; it would be better for Narendra Modi just stay focus on the center.
With his effective campaign skills, Narendra Modi could win in any elections in any part of the world.
But couldn't deliver the results.

Business people would run away from India; when they see the truth that India is losing its nature.

So, Indira Gandhi formula; you're for the state and we're for the center; that works.
Anything else, will cause more chaos and confusion.

It is better to lose at some places. A good business person may show some lose accounts to the income tax. All income and great profit would cause many troubles.

Already, the world political leaders and business people are confused about the unpredictable nature of current government in India; last minute withdrawal of the food bill; and so on.

Now, this emerging single party rule - would scare away investors.

Business is all about working with different personalities. But Narendra Modi said, I couldn't work with other Chief Ministers. No CEO would ignore this.

Indian media people may not observe each and every word in details; but global business community sense every move of a leader.

Without hesitation, they would invest in California. But to invest in Bangalore, they will look into every bit of information.

ஆக, யாராவது பொறுப்புள்ள ஆளு, நிதானத்தோடு செயல் ஆற்ற எடுத்துச் சொல்லுங்க.

நிதானம் தவறினால், தவறுகளை சரிசெய்யக்கூட வாய்ப்பு இல்லாமல் போய்விடும்.

அப்படி செய்ய முடியவில்லை என்றால், துக்ளக் சோ, அறிக்கை வெளியிட வேண்டிய நிலை உருவாகும்.

தர்மம் தனை சூது கவ்வும்; மீண்டும் தர்மம் வெல்லும். இப்படிக்கு, துக்ளக் சோ.

இல்லாட்டி,  வாழ்நாள் முழுவதும் சேத்துவைச்ச புண்ணியம், புஷ்வாணாமாகிப் போய்விடும், சோவுக்கு.

Delhi Model of Democracy

No body knows what is the right kind of democracy.
But everybody wants democracy.

So, democracy has been constantly evolving.

You could understand democracy only if you could compare various flavor of democracies.

Even, Americans abuse their constitutions.
In United States Constitution, search for the following words.

• primary election
• politics
• political party
• Democrats
• Republicans

Find out answers for the following questions.

• The first president, George Washington; was a Democrat or Republican
• What did George Washington say in his farewell address about political parties
• When did the current practice of eliminating the candidates via primaries
• What is the relationship between various branches of democracy
• What is the difference between the British and the American democracy

The Chinese Premier said, if all nations have the same kind of governments, it will be a boring one.

Coming back to India, the model is evolving.

Indian democracy is way off from the American style democracy.
Indian started with the British model; but then constantly keep evolving.

Indira Gandhi tried out various model of governments.
Others didn't introduce any new changes; just tried to fit into Indira Gandhi's model.

But now, with Narendra Modi, the government model is undergoing massive transformation.

You need to observe; you cannot label it as

• totalitarian or
• chinese communist model
• Singapore benevolent dictatorship

In fact, totalitarian did work. People didn't like Hitler only for the Jews part; otherwise, nobody had any serious complaint about totalitarian model.

Only history authors complains; other political leaders complains; but people just fit into the system.

Main land China has no problem; only people of Hong Kong is in a confused state.

People were happy about Emergency period of Indira Gandhi.
People had complaint only with family planning and other problems of Sanjay Gandhi.
Politicians suffered during Emergency; not the common people.
In emergency, government offices were functioning effectively.

Singapore, people regarded the benevolent dictator as the father of the nation.

Right now, people need development.
Development is an action;
that can be done only by the Executive branch;
certainly not by the Legislative branch.

The emerging Islamic State; it just has the Executive branch; and it is effective too.

China has no Legislative branch burden; that is the main reason for the development of China.
Development means, nowadays it refers to WEALTH and wealth only.
Not about  character; not about health.

No MLA or MPs could question the government in China about health hazard that caused by plastic and electronic recycling materials. So, health wise, China is going down.

Likewise, no MLA or MP could question the government in China about materials made out of elephant tusks and ivory products. China doesn't worry about character of its people. Only concern is money, paise, dollar and rupee.

Coming back to India, the Executive branch feels the burden of the Legislative branch.
So, for some time, may be for a decade, let us first develop the nation;
then we can sit in the parliament and talk for years;
for now, let us just execute our plans and develop India.

To achieve this,  the new government is very comfortable with the Delhi model.
Delhi had election.
Delhi has MLAs.
But no burden of discussion; arguments; resolution; vote on motions;
nothing of that sort.

So, the Central government is very comfortable with the Delhi model.

They are not very keen on establishing BJP governments in every state; then the world may say that, it is all totalitarian system in India. That is not good for business.


So, the Delhi model is a preferred one for now.

Earlier this model used to be referred to as Hung Assembly; now it is Delhi Model.

No Article 375 or something to dislodge the state governments;
then the world will look at India as a bad apple.

Election.
Let the seats get distributed among all.
Then Delhi model comes into existence.

Only AAP complains about Delhi Model.
UN; USA; UK; nobody else complains about Delhi Model.

Maharashtra will end up in the Delhi Model.
Political parties may cry about Delhi Model in Maharashtra.
Foreign media may just ignore the Delhi Model in Maharashtra.
Our media are in a very confused state; don't observe things going around them.
People of Maharashtra would love the Delhi Model of Government in Maharashtra.

Vajpayee & Swamy

IT is common knowledge that there is no love lost between Atal Behari Vajpayee and Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy, whom Jayalalitha desperately wanted as finance minister of a BJP-led government.

Politics in India will not be a complete one, if you ignore Subramaniam Swamy.

Swamy is a very active politician throughout his life.
Even illiterate farmers in Madurai agree that Swamy is a very well talented person.
Long time back, Swamy suggested to export Jasmine from Madurai. It is happening now.
But will they vote for Swamy and send Swamy to the parliament; no.
Somehow nobody wants to vote for Swamy.

Forget about voting; nobody even give Swamy a ticket.
Even in the recent election, Swamy was so confident of getting a MP ticket from Mumbai.
But, till the last minute, Amit Shah didn't say any word; towards the election day, they offered Swamy to contest against Sonia or Rahul. But Swamy didn't accept it.

Swamy could have accepted; perhaps Swamy would have won that seat too.
Even if Swamy lost, he would have got a cabinet minister post; just like that Education minister.

Swamy is a very intelligent person; no doubt about it.
Character; no question on his character.
Swamy has all skills to manage a government.
But somehow, nobody offers Swamy a good position.

The last position Swamy had was; in 1991, the member of the Planning Commission and Commerce Minister under Chandra Sekar government.


Everybody tries to make use of Swamy;
but nobody is willing to offer Swamy a position.

Do you think Swamy is welcome in  Tamilnadu BJP Kamal Alayam?

Nobody from Tamilnadu BJP ready to join hands with Swamy.

That's the fact.

Nobody could give Swamy any position; the reason is, Swamy could challenge anybody.

No one feels comfortable with Swamy. 

Everybody understands his skills.

On his own, Swamy couldn't reach any position.

Swamy has to depend on others.

So, historically, Swamy has been effectively used by all; to bring down anybody.

Jayalalitha and Swamy brought down Vajpayee.

The only problem is, Swamy's plan had worked only 50%

Swamy never had total and complete plan for the full journey.

With Swamy, anybody could reach the middle of the ocean; and get struck there.

Swamy has never taken anybody to the other side of the shore.

Jayalalitha & Swamy plan worked only to bring down Vajpayee government;

but then they had no plan to emerge as an alternative.

Finally, Vajpayee came back with a comfortable majority.

So, the lesson is; when you're not in power, then join hands with Swamy.

If you're in power; either give Swamy an important minister post or stay away.

Swamy could effectively deliver whether it is Finance or Defense.

If you have confidence in you; if you feel that Swamy could never challenge your position, then give Swamy a minister post.

Everybody has some unique skill.

Once they realize that skill, then they could effectively deliver with total freedom.

As a responsible citizen, Swamy could contribute to Mother India.

With Jayalalitha's case, Swamy got huge circle of fans.

As a free person, Swamy could challenge any politician.

Right now the action is taking place in Karnataka. 

Several potential cases are there for Swamy.

Once Swamy is free, he may challenge Karnataka politicians too.

Right now, Swamy's hands are tied up.

So, as Ram Jethmalini said, Swamy could blackmail anyone.

You cannot just enjoy Swamy's hardwork and continue to deny a good position.

Right now, people talk about only two persons in Indian politics.

One is Jayalalitha and other is Swamy.

People just ignore all those big LokPal and AAP.

Lord Siva is the destroyer.

There is no hierarchy.

Siva; Vishnu; Brahma.

All three are equal and independent;

Clear separation of power; responsibility and accountability. 

With a single typewriter, Mohammad Ali Jinnah could create a history.

So, just with a Twitter, Swamy could challenge all politicians irrespective of political parties and get a place in Indian history. 

Speaker of Lok Sabha

Big mistake.

You could make someone as the President of India; no problem.

Vice President of India; Prime Minister; Deputy Prime Minister; Cabinet Minister and any other positions; no problem at all.

But certainly not the Speaker position.

When a person sits in that chair, it doesn't matter whether that person is Primary or Deputy.

Speaker is the Speaker.

In the Westministerial system of democracy, Speaker has unlimited power.

On any day, on the floor of the parliament, the Speaker could allow a no-confidence motion against the government. And the serious issue is, all the time, all MPs may not be present in the Parliament. You could bring down any government by the voting of the members present in the Parliament at that particular time.

So, in the British style democracy, you should hold the Speaker positions; never give away that position. Somehow, Jayalalitha got it.

At any time, you can let go your ministers; you can ask them to resign. But the Speaker position; the parliament needs to assemble and impeach the Speaker.

If you watch the movie, Olympus Has Fallen the Speaker becomes the President of United States of America.

America has the best of the best constitution. India could take a fresh look at it. As we use American technology like Google, Facebook, we shall adopt their constitution too.

Around the world in 80 days

Around the world in 80 days.

Once it was considered as an achievement; but not any more.

Today, if someone says, I will be travelling for the next 180 days; that means, that person is on a trip to Mars. As per NASA, it takes 180 days to reach Mars.

Most of the desi complains about the 32 hours long flight to India. They don't realize the fact that Vivekananda took a ship journey to Chicago. Gandhi went by ship to London to participate in Round Table conference.

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has just completed going the world trip. Now, Modi is back home and facing local political challenges.

 The media may review the news that they had published; at least once in a month; what did happen to that BRICS bank? When they review, naturally these questions may arise. Just keep running is no good; take a break and review.

In today's world, political leaders have lot of domestic problems. They go out of their country to escape from local problems.

For Brazil President; they lost the world cup; domestic politicians were criticizing the Brazil President for hosting the world cup with so much of money.

Putin has his own domestic and other challenges. Japan Prime Minister has to face a lot of domestic issues. Chinese Premier is a ceremonial position; nobody knows who has the power in China. Hong Kong protest is a serious issue for China now.

Imran Khan is a threat to Nawaz Sharif's leadership. President Rajapakse visits Sri Lanka once in a while; most of the time, the President of Sri Lanka is on tour; visiting Cuba or Pope.

Domestic demand is huge; people expect magic from their leaders; not only expect; people demand.

People demand high character from their leaders. In 1998, people in United States were highly critical about the character of the President Bill Clinton. But, they don't follow any high standard in their private life.

Nobody could meet the demands of today's people. Let it Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi or Winston Churchill or George Washington.

Modi's America visit. Google Eric Schmidt attended the meeting. But no big commitment from Google. In fact, Eric Schmidt forgot Java and other technology a long time back. Now, Eric Schmidt learns a lot about politics in Washington, China, India and all other nations. Eric Schmidt is a potential candidate for the next Presidential election.

The other day, I was talking to a policeman. I mentioned, one day, there will be a President from Silicon Valley.

The policeman asked, you mean as an advisor to the President.

I said, "No. as the President."

Then the policeman asked, "Will it happen? will it happen in my life time?"

I said, "Sure. it will happen in five or ten years time."

American politicians enjoyed Modi's visit; it is a refreshing experience for them; an escape from their monotonous repetitive dull life.

For the next election, most of the candidates may seek for Modi's endorsement. They may invite Modi to participate in their national convention.

When someone visits your home; when you host a dinner for the guest; you need to do it with whole family. During Manmohan Singh's visit, Michelle Obama participated with great enthusiasm. But, for Modi's visit, there is no picture available with Michelle and Indian team.

Local Governments

Could you do this everyday for 15 minutes?

No. Certainly not possible.

That is how, every citizen feels.

Citizens of India could plan; schedule; make commitment to participate in the event; and they will do it also. But, citizens of India cannot do it everyday for 15 minutes.

For citizens of India, time is money. They are busy; they are busier than any central ministers. Certainly, citizens have no time to do this cleaning job everyday for 15 minutes.

They do have money; they don't mind giving money away for this kind of social work. For instance, people have no time to go to market to buy their groceries once in a week. So, Google has started a service called, https://www.google.com/shopping/express/ You give them the list; Google would deliver the grocery at your home.

Likewise, Google or Amazon would start cleaning service; our people would sponsor those services for a street. Citizen could adopt a street using Google Maps; and make a monthly contribution to Google. Google would clean that street.

Don't try to follow Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. You don't need to.
Gandhi didn't follow anybody. So, Gandhi didn't expect anybody to follow him.

Even his so called followers didn't listen to his words. Gandhi suggested to close down the Congress party. Till now, nobody did it.

Gandhi suggested to get rid of the military. Nehru said no.

You're trying to follow Gandhi without understanding him. So, you will end up in confusion; and then you will blame Gandhi for your confusion.

Do you know the word 'kettle'; how does that word related to Gandhi.

If Gandhi lives today, he would not have followed his own previous teaching.

In simple words, Gandhi acts; it is action; everyday, he spins his chakra with cotton into thread. You cannot clean roads everyday.

So, it is all about action. Above all, Gandhi didn't travel in any fixed path; even during his life time, nobody could predict what he is going to do next.

You could follow anybody, only if they travel in a fixed path. If that person walks in a pathless land; how could you follow that person.

So, Gandhi; for any given situation, he sees the opportunities and also challenges; then he perceive; in perception, he acts without any choice; without any confusion.

The truth is, for his entire life, Gandhi didn't have any constitutional authority. So all his actions were based on volunteers.

Now, you have authority. You have entire machinery at your disposal. You have tax money.

If Gandhi lives now; if he has constitutional authority, he would never do things like you do now.

When you talk about clean India;

• people are clean
• houses are clean
• all worship places are clean; except mass gathering places like Varanasi
• all gated community are clean
• only city roads and town streets are not clean.

In Madurai, people used to spit on the street; or pass urine on the street wall.

To fix this problem, along the road side, they built small pillaiyar temple; or draw some god picture.

People already pay tax money; and you want them to clean their roads too.

Fix the local government problem.

When they say, America is a developed nation; that means, they have effective local governments.

Palo Alto city government; you cannot imagine; the city government is more effective than any state governments in India.

City government has police force. city government has fire security;

City government is so effective; all problems of people could effectively managed by city governments.

In Gandhi's word, it is Village Panjayat. 

Ancient India was not dirty.

Even the British India was not dirty.

In fact, in Calcutta, they built the water system; without any pump, they designed the pipe line; for water from Ganges to flow through the pipe line to Park Street; they used to wash away roads every morning with those water supply.

India has started becoming dirty only after 1947.

Power and responsibility has been delegated to the city level.

Mysore Maharaja's responsibility to keep the city clean.

So, India needs effective local governments.

Expiry Date for judicial cases

Thank goodness! This case haven't come to judicial courts in India.

If two mothers come to Indian judicial courts, they may get the judgment many many years later. By that time, say 18 years, the baby would have grown up to a young woman. The mothers would have grown older; perhaps may be dead too. What will be the use of delayed judgment in that case.

In Jayalalitha's case, had they delivered this judgment in 1996, entire Tamilnadu would have celebrated the judgment. But now, it is a dead case. This case is expired.

More than political perspective, take a fresh look at our judicial system.

Indian judicial system has no expiry date for judicial cases. All other system has an expiry date.

Human life has an expiry date.
The President of United States of America - position has an expiry date of eight years.
Members of Parliament of India - position has an expiry date of five years.
The Prime Minister of India - position could expire on any date.

Everything has an expiry date. So, the judicial cases need to have an expiry date.
When a case is registered, it may carry a date; this case is valid for five years; a judgment has to be delivered before its expiry; otherwise, the case may become invalid.

So many things are not clear in our judicial system.

The Prime Minister of India has got nothing to do with this case; but, unnecessarily, his name has been dragged into this verdict.

BJP leader Subramanian Swamy has urged the Public Prosecutor in the disproportionate assets case against former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa to vigorously oppose the bail applications of the convicted persons fixed for hearing on October 7, 2014.

Who has the authority to instruct the Public Prosecutor to do his job?

What is the responsibility of a Public Prosecutor?

As per the constitution, the state government appoints a person as a Public Prosecutor. There ends the responsibility of the state government.

Could the Chief Minister of Karnataka give instructions to the Public Prosecutor about handling this case?

Even this case and several other cases; we admit; judicial system cannot function without any interference, if it is in the same state; so we need to move the case to another state.

That's how this case was moved from Tamilnadu to Karnataka.

This idea itself is an insult to our judicial system.

When the government decided to send MGR to America for medical treatment, doctors in India expressed their feelings. You don't have faith in our ability; our sincerity.

But, we simply say, this case cannot function without any interference, if it is in native state.

If this trend continues, then we may transfer our judicial cases to Pakistan courts and they may transfer their cases to India.

Perhaps, Indian judicial court may take up the case of Nawaz Sharif about his election poll rigging.

Before pronouncing the quantum, the judge asked Jayalalithaa whether she had anything to say about the conviction. Speaking for the first time in the court room, Jayalalithaa called it a political witch hunt by her political opponents. She told the judge that she had suffered for 18 years because of this case and was inflicted with diabetes, hypertension and other ailments due to the same. She also told the judge that she was just 48-years-old when the case was registered against her , she was now 66, and that she had suffered enough.

In the court room, right in front of the judge, Jayalalitha said; it is a political witch hunt by her political opponents.

This statement is a direct insult to that Judge and the entire judicial system.

This statement clearly conveys the message:

Honorable Judge, you didn't write this verdict; someone else did it; you're just delivering it as a courier.

We had Manmohan Singh as the Prime Minister;
but behind the scene, Sonia was running the government.

Likewise, what we see is not what we get.

Someone else is writing the verdict and judges are delivering it as a courier.

So, naturally behind the scenes some others pulling strings.

In Karnataka, Sonia is in power.

So, on this stage the actors are:

• Jayalalitha in jail
• Sonia in power in Karnataka

As Imran Khan said; we're just donkeys; just by painting strips on our back, we cannot become zebra.

In understanding of democracy system, the Founding Fathers of America had done an excellant service to humanity.

We need to learn a lot about democracy.

Till then, let us continue with all chaos and confusion, in the name of democracy.
