From Tragedy to Comedy

Only in Ceylon.

Only in Sri Lanka, newspapers could publish 2009 news in 2014. The president admits in these six years, Mahinda Rajapaksa couldn't achieve any major political, social and economical transformation in Sri Lanka.

In Japan, the war came to an end in 1945 after the atomic bomb with heavy loss of lives. Then by 1951, the leaders could transform Japan in political, social and economical fronts.

That was the effective leadership that could transform Japan.

Here in Sri Lanka, you have a very entertaining leadership. No shortage for fun and comedy.

For more than three decades, when you see any newspapers from Ceylon, it was all about assassination; killing; dead human bodies. Once for all that tragedy came to an end.

Now, you visit any Sri Lankan website, it is full of entertainment. The whole nation; not just those political leaders; media; citizens; together they have fun and full of entertaining politics.

The President Mahinda Rajapaksa said not to underestimate his skills. Winning the support of this politicians his latest achievement. Media is busy in making cartoons that money could buy their political leaders. Citizens of Sri Lanka is actively participating in their democratic responsibility by making sarcastic comments about their political leaders.

Sri Lankan. The whole world is watching your actions. All these political entertainments are not for free. You pay a huge price for these entertainments.

Right now, Sri Lanka needs a serious, responsible leadership. Only then you could earn your respects back from the rest of the world.

The world could never understand the reason for the conflict after the independence in Ceylon. Now, with your irresponsible actions, the world could seriously learn the truth of that conflict.

You cannot continue to blame on Prabhaharan for your failure. Instead of taking the country forward, you're taking the country backward by publishing 2009 news in 2014.

It's time; stop all these entertainments; get serious; move forward; transform the nation in political, social and economical areas.

Leadership of Sri Lanka

The inflated ballons and cutouts had been blocking all the leaders of Sri Lanka. As the ballons are losing its air and cutouts are now removed, the world could see the leadership community of Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka needs leadership at all levels. At the national level, an effective president; at the provincial level, an effective chief minister; at the city level, an effective mayor.

Besides that, effective leadership is needed for the judicial branch. At the legislative branch, effective  legislators and parliamentarians  are needed.

The challenges and innovative opportunities are always new. The way you handle one challenge may not be applicable for another challenge. That is where the leadership fail.

When they had handled one challenge successfully, they assumed that they could apply the same strategy for all challenges. One challenge may be flood and other challenge may be drought. So, leadership should be able to sense the challenge and apply the right strategy to handle it.

An effective leadership observe each and every signal; sense the right information; and act on it in a timely manner. They prepare for both challenges and opportunities.

In current Sri Lanka, except the President Mahinda Rajapaksa, all leaders are effective. They observe and sense every signal and be prepared to face the challenges and never miss any opportunities.

The war time challenges are different; peace time nation building challenges are different. Historically, Winston Churchill example is the best. Winston Churchill won the World War against Hitler. So, confidently call for an election in 1945. His deputy Prime Minister Clement Attlee challenged Winston Churchill. Till date, no analyst could explain the reason for the defeat of Winston Churchill. He lost the election.

Once the war was over, the President Mahinda Rajapaksa could have transformed into a nation building leader. But Mahinda continued with the victory of the war. The hangover effect was too much and brought Mahinda to this low level.

Leadership always have challenges; but challenges are always new; leaders need to be prepared to face new challenges. If it is repeating, that you don't call it as a challenge. Tsunami was a challenge at that time; not any more. Now all are prepared to face tsunami.

The emerging leadership community of Sri Lanka; together they could dedicate themselves in nation building effort. Together they could build a wonderful nation; respectable nation.

In fact, Sri Lanka has plenty of natural resources; agriculture and ocean wealth is so much. Sri Lanka is not a poor country. Sri Lanka is a poorly managed country.

It's time to bring down the cutout. Otherwise, after the election, when the results are out, people would br bringing it down, like Saddam Hussain cutouts and statues in Iraq. The worst thing is, that action would be captured in video, in various angle and would be uploaded into You Tube. For generations after generations would watch that video. In today's world, be simple. Don't try to act simple; you will be caught in your action.

Person serving tea for a decade in Sri Lanka

I am happy to go before the people - President Mahinda Rajapaksa

President Mahinda Rajapaksa said, “The contest is between me and the Chandrika-Mangala alliance. Ranil is in the sidelines. But I think Ranil would have been the best candidate for the opposition. Maithripala is a nonentity in this. All I can do is to wish him well”.

Does it make any sense? Don't come to the conclusion, in general, all Sri Lankans are confused people. No. Sri Lankans in general are intelligent people. Only their president Mahinda Rajapaksa is in a state of confusion.

It would be better for their family and also for the SLFP political party, if the President Mahinda Rajapaksa does speak less, at this critical juncture. Let the government or the party spokesperson meet the press and answer their questions.

Except Mahinda, nobody else in Sri Lanka thinks that this current contest is between Mahinda and Chandrika. Not even Mahinda's family members think in that way; not the party workers think that the contest is between Mahinda and Chandrika.

Everybody knows that the contest is between Mahinda Family and the whole citizens of Sri Lanka.

It's people versus fake King of Sri Lanka.

Asked if he would wait for the end of his 6 year term to take oaths for a third term if he wins the election, President Rajapaksa said he would take oaths on November 19, 2015. “I will lose one year, just as I lost one year in my first term”.

Had it been Indian media, they would have asked so many questions on this statement.

What if he loses the election?
When Mahinda would vacate the office, if he loses the election?

It is better to ask that question to the President himself. Because, nobody else could give proper interpretation of their constitution and laws.

Indian medis would have asked this question too. Mr.President, why such a hurry?
Two years before the end of the term; and why January 8, 2015, if you are going to take oath on November 19, 2015; why such a hurry?

Could we at least delay the election for a few more weeks? Could we have the election after the Pope visit. Let the Pope have a peaceful stay in Sri Lanka. Let us have the election in February or in November 15, 2015 or 2016. Why such a hurry, if you are not going to take oath immediately.
___________________________________________

At this juncture, this meeting with media is a very important event. President Mahinda Rajapaksa could have conveyed a very effective message about his achievement and his future plan for Sri Lanka. The world is listening now.

Even the person who served tea to you is one recruited by Chandrika

But look at the content; the fact is right there; the person have been serving tea for more than a decade in Temple Tree, the President's palace. That is a clear example for the non-development of citizen of Sri Lanka.

Had that person been in India, by this time he would have been the Prime Minister of India. Only in India, a chaiwalla could become the Prime Minister.

There in Sri Lanka, as per Mahinda Rajapaksa's own confession; a health minister cannot become the President of Sri Lanka.

Maithreepala is a nonentity...

What an arrogant statement. How could they make such an arrogant statement and practice buddhism?

This conversation clearly establishes that the President Mahinda Rajapaksa is in a state of confusion; not fit to lead a nation with so much complex issues.

At this point of time, it would be better for the family; and for the party to field someone else as a candidate.

End Game

Life is a movement.
Life is a movement from birth to death.
So, the life movement includes:

  • birth
  • living
  • death
  • life after death
It is a whole movement.

Living includes:

  • education
  • profession
  • family
  • society
So, death is part of life. People who understand death, they live their life.
Death usually means the biological death. It's a common thing for all living beings.

But a few human beings, during their biological life, they make a great contribution to the society. Those human beings live a life, even after the biological death.

For instance, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, George Washington, Buddha, Jesus, Allah, Einstein.

So, it is quite common for human beings to be prepared for death. When they sit with insurance agent for life, they are making preparations to meet any crisis and challenges in future.

Forget about death. Nowadays, people are prepared for everything. They save a part of their income to meet challenges like, lay-off, loss of job,  divorce, bad health, disability; people are prepared for any emergency in life. People living on the shores are prepared for tsunami.

It is so surprising that the leaders are not prepared for any challenges; they are not prepared for the end game. Had they prepared, without any worry, they would just take the impact easy and could continue to live with less damages.

Sarath Fonseka lost his job; lost his properties. But still Sarath Fonseka could continue to live in Sri Lanka.

But that is not the case for Mahinda Rajapaksa and his family. To continue to live in Sri Lanka, Mahinda Rajapaksa has to occupy the post of the President. Anything less is considered as death for the whole Mahinda Rajapaksa family. That is the truth.

The moment Mahinda Rajapaksa lose the election, people would move towards his home and start robbing all his family wealth. So, it is time for Mahinda Rajapaksa to be prepared for the end game.

Election is a gamble. Leaders do win and do lose also. No leaders in the history have a record of winning all elections till their death.

Had Mahinda Rajapaksa understood this basic truth, he would have gone slow in his development of the family and would have spend more time for the development of his citizens.

Living in Sri Lanka as an ordinary citizen is not an option for Mahinda Rajapaksa and his family.

Where would they then go? No way to United States of America. Not to Europe, Canada or Australia.

China. Yes. China would welcome Mahinda Rajapaksa family.
But in China, there is a government policy; one family could have only one child.
Mahinda Rajapaksa kids are just married and they would like to have many children.
So, China is not the best place to build family.

India. That is the nature of the people of India.
India would provide a safe place for Mahinda Rajapaksa to live with his family members.

So, future leaders; never fall into the trap of any illusion.
Follow the truth; you will be safe.
Enjoy the wealth; but don't get greedy.

Practice death; you don't need to physically die; but ask that question.

Life is a movement.
Nothing is stationery.
So, be prepared to go up; be prepared to go down too.

Sri Lanka Movement

Right now, in Sri Lanka, there is a movement; similar to the one Imran Khan is leading in Pakistan.

The current movement in Sri Lanka is so natural without any external simulations. It is not a seasonal one for this election; it is not just for this election. The current movement will go beyond the election.

Almost all citizens are participating in this movement. It's too late to stop this movement. This movement would transform Sri Lanka. This movement would transform the lives of all; both citizens and Mahinda family.

When the transformation happens, citizens life would go up and Mahinda family would go down.

There is no way out for Mahinda family. In fact, Mahinda was not prepared for any transformation.

Had Mahinda prepared for any crisis, he would have no hesitation to live a life of an ordinary citizen of Sri Lanka. But Mahinda and his family have messed up a lot. They may not feel comfortable to live as citizens of Sri Lanka.

When Mahinda family leave the country, they may need two flights to accomodate their family members. So they cannot take all their party workers along with them. Realizing this truth, the party workers would start moving away from Mahinda and his family; they also would participate in the current movement.

All civil service executives have already participating in this movement. So, nobody could stop this movement. This movement would go beyond the current election. It is a movement for building modern Sri Lanka.

There is a confusion;
If Rajapaksa is re-elected, his third term will begin on 19 November 2015;
if not, the winning candidate will take office immediately.

The current movement would not give room for any of these confusions. This movement would not allow any mis-interpretation of the law. This movement would continue and people would continue to participate as a responsible citizens of Sri Lanka in the future government. That is democracy.

Just follow the rule of the law and accept the verdict of the people.

Don't try to fix the result. Let the election happen in just way.

Let the election happen without any disruption on January 8, 2015.

Let the Pope visit on January 12, 2015.
The Pope visit was organized by the President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
So, let the President enjoy the Pope visit without any worries.
People from India, the Indian catholics would like to visit Sri Lanka during Pope visit.
Let the event happen without any disturbance.

Then on January 15, 2015, let the votes be counted.
Then let the winning candidate take charge as the President of Sri Lanka.

So, after the election, let all citizens take a break.
Don't worry about the safety and security of the ballot boxes.
The Sri Lankan military would protect them.

Maithree Way

Regarding election violence...there will be no violence.

Violence happens, when human beings are in a state of confusion. Now, there is no confusion in Sri Lanka. Everybody could see things very clearly without any confusion.

More than that, each individual could see it with clear perception with their own senses. Nobody needs an interpreter to explain them in details; without any outside help, each individual could sense the current happenings in Sri Lanka.

Not only the Maithreepala Srisena camp, but also Mahinda Rajapaksa camp. Citizens have no confusion; political leaders and their workers have no confusion; military and other government civil executives have no confusion; youth and senior citizens have no confusion; monks have no confusion; absolutely no confusion. So, there will be no violence.

There is no need for any complex political analysts; just observe. When you walk by the military canteen, you could listen to the talks of those officers; it is not gossip; everything is public and open. So, no need for any gossip. Likewise walk by the tea stall closer to the Mahinda Rajapaksa political party office; you could listen to the talk of those hard working low-end party workers.

Political party people blame the military officers. Military officers blame the political party leaders.

Politicians blame military for the failure of intelligence; military officers blame the politicians for their immature act of calling for a snap poll.

In Pakistan, police and military officers protect Imran Khan's people and support their movement. They told Nawaz Sharif that the military would fight against only enemy country; not against its own people.

Earlier police officers were prevented from doing their duties; now, they would enjoy serving their mother Lanka.

It is not a failure of intelligence in Sri Lanka. Intelligence does effectively work in Sri Lanka. Intelligence work in both ways; intelligence does work for government; intelligence also work against authoritarian rule of the government. This time intelligence does work with nation rebuilding team.

Coming to party office...I knew that this what would happen. I did warn the president several times. Let us do it slowly; bring one family member for a decade; not all at once. But the president didn't listen.

Failure is an orphan; nobody say that he or she is accountable for the downfall. Everybody blames others. So, they would be busy in blaming each other. Hence, there will be no violence.

One party worker said, "Is it true. I heard the rumor. You're going to crossover."

The party worker replied, "Me. no way. Am I a fool to leave this wealth. I am going to continue. Once all Rajapaksa leave then let us enjoy this wealth. You be the Presidential candidate for 2020; and I be the vice-president candidate. Let us rebuild this party. I am going to wait for the right moment and take control over the party."

It is a crisis for some. For many, it is an innovative opportunity. So, there will be no violence.

Coming to the cartoon...

Some how, the media, not only in Sri Lanka but also in India and other parts too; media is in a state of frozen mind set. No freshness in their action. Over a period of time, they have accumulated lot of knowledge; and they always apply that accumulated knowledge as a reference.

As per their accumulated knowledge, to participate in an election, the candidate need:

  • money power
  • muscle power
  • charismatic
  • marketing
  • propaganda
  • brain wash
  • and so on
Media never considers 'character' as a quality of leadership.
Also, over a period of many centuries, the world is divided into east and the west. There is a misconception that the west is all about materialism and not about any character.

Now, the east and the west division is completely gone. In today's California, the entire population was born in the eastern countries and living in the western part of the world.

Moreover, they also put 'character' and 'honesty' first.
Wealth is nothing.
Health is something.
Character is everything.

Honesty is still the best policy.

So, the current founding fathers and mothers of Modern Sri Lanka, act with wisdom; select the best character human being in Sri Lanka politics; put him in the chariot; send him to the Kurkshetra.

And, it is Maithree way.

Leaders don't follow others. Leaders lead in their own way.
Maithree said; in this campaign there will be no cutouts and other plastic materials.
Mahinda lives in cutout; Maithree lives in people hearts.

The whole movement in Sri Lanka would be a historical event in human history. It is people movement.

Albert Einstein said: The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil; but because of the people who don't do anything about it.

Now, the emerging 'founding fathers and mothers of Modern Sri Lanka' is doing the right thing. It is action. It is karma. It is அறம்.

Last, but not least. Never never say that, Sri Lanka is a paradise on earth. All these paradise, heaven and hell for the dead people; not for living human beings.

More than enough human beings had died on that soil. So, let there be no more violence. Let human beings start living their life in that beautiful island with those wonderful human beings.

Take a break, Mahinda

Hamid Karzai is a politician in Afghanistan who served as President from 7 December 2004 to 29 September 2014.

Karzai became a dominant political figure after the removal of the Taliban regime in late 2001. During the December 2001 International Conference on Afghanistan in Germany, Karzai was selected by prominent Afghan political figures to serve a six-month term as Chairman of the Interim Administration. He was then chosen for a two-year term as Interim President during the 2002 loya jirga (grand assembly) that was held in Kabul, Afghanistan.

After the 2004 presidential election, Karzai was declared winner and became President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. He won a second five-year term in the 2009 presidential election.

Now, Hamid Karzai is a freeman; going around the world; gives talk on leadership. Hamid Karzai proudly introduces himself as, the former President of Afghanistan; now a citizen of Afghanistan.

Hamid Karzai handed over the responsibility to the next leader and enjoys his life as a free human being.
____________________________________________________________

After ten years in power, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh handed over the responsibility to Narendra Modi and enjoys his life with grandkids.

Vladimir Putin took a break and come back to power.

Nawaz Sharif took a break and come back to power.

Bill Clinton had been the President for eight years.
Now, Hillary Clinton is the candidate for the next election.

That's democracy.
Only in other form of government; you born as a King and die as a King.

So, take a break, Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Let someone else take the responsibility.
____________________________________________________
Forget about Maithreepala Srisena; give a chance to your loyal ministers.
  • Nimal Siripala
  • Arumugam Thondaman
  • Wimal Weerawansa
  • Basil Rajapaksa
  • G.L. Peiris
  • Keheliya Rambukwella
  • Mervin Silva
Why do you give a chance to the West to install some dummies to power. You ask your dummies to take charge. At any time, you should be able to take it back from them too.
_____________________________________________________
Just take a break for few years and see the Lanka, that you have built. You enjoy the fruit of your hard work; let someone take responsibility and continue the work, where you have left.

Siddharta Gautama left his palace; attachment is suffering; give up is freedom.

Mahinda Rajapaksa, you could attain awakening and nirvana; when you give up your position.

When you hold on it tight, people would respect you as the President.
When you give up, without any position, people would respect you;
if they feel that you have done something good for them.

So, how do you know the truth; truth about the real respect from the people.

Forget about the people; look at the people around you.
Would they give you same kind of respect, whether you are in power or not.
How about your family members?
Would they give you same respect?
Test it. test it yourself.

Vladimir Putin tested it. People around Putin continue to give the same respect, that may be out of fear; but Putin has confidence in himself; he could get it back on any day, any time.

Nawaz Sharif did it.
_______________________________________________
George Washington was the first human being, in the history; step down.
George Washington was ready to step down after the first term; but others asked GW to continue.
But, after the second term, George Washington did step down.

That was a historical moment in human history. Till then, all Kings and Queens just ignored the American experiment on democracy.

But, when George Washington stepped down, all those Kings and Queens did bow their head and did salute George Washington.

All kings and queens; right from ancient India; China; Greek and Europe; conspiracy within royal families; son killing king ot queen to come to power; and so on.

Stepping down from that top height of the President of United States of America is not a thing anybody could ever imagine, during that period.

So,  Mahinda, be a model for the future generation. Step down.
______________________________________________
Somehow, over a period of time, we have inflated all these false things and positions.

Ask anybody; a simple question; name three things; human beings need to live.

Nobody would say the right answer. The truth is:
  • human being could live for weeks without food
  • human beings could live for days without water
  • human beings could not live even for a minute without air
But they would say; money; position; status; Internet; mobile phone.
___________________________________________________
So, the current day challenge is; not about truth; not about false; but fake.

India has been true to others. For instance, India and America may not agree on many subjects; but without any hesitation or fear, India express concerns on those subjects.

Israel and other middle east countries; they don't hide their differences; no confusion; everybody has a clear understanding about their misunderstandings.

But with Sri Lanka; not in general; in particular, Mahinda Rajapaksa leadership.
Mahinda Rajapaksa is not true in his commitment; he is not false in his commitment; he fakes.
By this time, all politicians of Sri Lanka must have sensed the 'faking' nature of Mahinda.

The world leaders could handle the truth; could confront the false; but fake; they are confused.

Nobody could interpret the fake communication or commitment of Mahinda Rajapaksa.

It's very difficult to change that nature.

Thank Goodness. Siddharta Gautama was dead.
Otherwise, Mahinda Rajapaksa would have invited Siddharta Gautama to campaign for this election.

Once got trapped into the net of Mahinda Rajapaksa, even Siddharta Gautama could not escape from it; Siddharta Gautama would never get his nirvana from the maya, the illusion of Mahinda Rajapaksa.
___________________________________________

Election violence. don't worry; there will be no violence.
It is not Buddha; it is King Ashoka developed the culture in Ceylon.
Mahinda, follow the footsteps of King Ashoka.
Step down.
Also send your children and your ministers to the rest of the world to preach about the Buddha's religion.

Maithreepala Srisena is Arjun

2005:
Registered Electors: 13.0 million
Mahinda Rajapaksa:   4.9 million
No support to MR  :   8.1 million
___________________________________________________________

2010:
Registered Electors: 14 million
Mahinda Rajapaksa:   6 million
No support to MR  :   8 million

2015:
Total Population:      20 million
Mahinda Rajapaksa:   8 million
No support to MR  : 12 million
_______________________________
When you see the pattern, Mahinda Rajapaksa didn't get the support of entire population of Sri Lanka.

Two things had been helping Mahinda Rajapaksa to win those elections.

One is; the entire population had no faith in democracy and political system; that was the reason, they avoided the voting on election day. They stayed away from participating in the election process. That did go advantage to Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Now, in 2015, people feel that it is their responsibility to cast their vote on election day. On seeing the political developments in Sri Lanka, more citizens have already participating in Twitter and Facebook discussion. So, this time, more people would cast their vote. That may go against Mahinda Rajapaksa.

If they get involved in violence, then the image of Mahinda Rajapaksa in the international stage would be greatly damaged. Why such a hurry. Mahinda Rajapaksa could have slowly build up Facebook likes and Twitter following over a period of two years and then would have gone for an election. Still it is not too late. Just cancel the election and complete the second term.

Second things is; splitting of vote among opposition candidates.

Had there been Mahinda Rajapaksa, Ranil Wickramasinghe, Sarath Fonseka and ten candidates from each religion and regions; that would split the votes. That split used to go advantage to Mahinda.

This time; look at the event; it is solid. No chance for any split.

It's a master plan. In fact, it is not a plan of Maithreepala Srisena.

In fact, in October 2014, Maithreepala Srisena wrote a letter to the President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

That letter conveyed this message, "Are you stupid, Mahinda. Why. why. Why do you want to have an election now. You already have two more years. Why don't you just do your duty."

Those words were not from Maithreepala Srisena. In fact, it was from Buddha.

But, bad time for Mahinda.
Mahinda ignored Maithreepala Srisena and enjoyed listening to his jalras;
his favorite buddies.

That letter demonstrates the character of integrity of Maithreepala Srisena.
Maithreepala Srisena could see the truth;
and Maithreepala Srisena was not hiding the truth from Mahinda.

So, Maithreepala Srisena is not Krishna.
Krishna and other wise human beings made a decision and assign the task to Maithreepala Srisena.

In this Kurukshetra, Maithreepala Srisena is Arjun.
__________________________________________
Those monks played the role of Krishna.
Very well conceived and executed.

They didn't want to spend their energy to make Ranil Wickramasinghe or Sarath Fonseka stronger.

They wanted to shake Mahinda Rajapaksa's own party;
own cabinet minister;
that was a touch of Krishna.

Also, they didn't pickup any cabinet minister; had they picked up that foreign minister or any corrupt minister, they could end up in disaster.

Wow. These monks - wisdom.
Oh man! they don't preach or advice.
Action. They are directly involved in action.
Karma.

Mahinda Rajapaksa misused and abused all these spiritual leaders.
Poor Mahinda. Took everything granted.
Had been playing with fire.

Not all monks are good; not all monks are bad.
A few monks; they practice truth; truth is fire.

The end has already come to Mahinda.

Safe Exit

Nobody questions family rule in North Korea.

The world accepts King of Jordan.

King of Bhutan is part of SAARC family.

So, there is nothing wrong to be the king of Sri Lanka.

That is the best option for Mahinda Rajapaksa at this point of time. Mahinda Rajapaksa still believes he has two third majority in the Parliament. If that is true, Mahinda Rajapaksa should test it on the floor.

Mahinda Rajapaksa shall move a resolution in the parliament; let us abolish the Executive Presidency; let us go back to our tradition; way before the arrival of the British; let us go back to royal kingdom; let our family be the first modern king family.

In that way, Mahinda Rajapaksa could bring all political entertainments to an end. In fact, people would agree with Mahinda; right now, it is not democracy of, for , by the people; so people would say 'YES' for King and Queen. In fact, people enjoy the fantasy of King, Queen and Royal Wedding.

By becoming the King of Sri Lanka, Mahinda Rajapaksa could achieve China's economic development. The main reason for China's development is - no wastage of energy in the name of democracy. Single party rule; no election; just an appointment.

____________________________________________________
This time the conspiracy is a bigger one; and it is a mega conspiracy. You cannot blame them. They did try to work with you. But Mahinda Rajapaksa agrees to one thing and acts in an opposite way. So, the international community lost the faith in the leadership of Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The United Nations; the US;  entire Europe; may be Russia too; China don't care; China ready to work with MR, MS, RW or SF; Pakistan is in the same situation; India, if you're true, India would help; if you try to play game, India would teach you a lesson.

So, Mahinda is right. It is an international initiative; not a conspiracy; everything is obvious. International community want the sufferings of the people of Sri Lanka to come to an end. If you call that as a conspiracy; then go ahead.

Yes. Mahinda is right. Dollar may not flow into Sri Lanka to bring about the change; but Twitter and Facebook offers a platform for the people to express themselves freely. Twitter and Facebook is the platform for Freedom of Expression.

Twitter and Facebook is open to Mahinda Rajapaksa too. If you could convince the people with your actions, go ahead. But it is level playing field for all candidates.

So, this time, Mahinda Rajapaksa has to face larger international initiative.
_______________________________________________________
This time, Mahinda Rajapaksa failed to sense the threat from his own cabinet colleagues. This is a dangerous trend. All head of states; let it be any country; they cannot rely on their cabinet colleagues.

In Sri Lanka, the party colleagues got irritated with the family corruption.

Family Corruption. That is an USP (Unique Selling Proposition)

People would buy it. Family Corruption in Sri Lanka is so obvious. All of a sudden, Mahinda Rajapaksa cannot cover it. People would vote against this one point.

When Maithreepala Srisena says; he would abolish the Executive Presidency; people don't care.

When Maithreepala Srisena says; he would make Ranil Wickramasinghe the PM; people don't care.

When Maithreepala Srisena says; he would bring Family Corruption to an end; people do care.

When Maithreepala Srisena says; he would confiscate the wealth of entire Rajapaksa family; inland and abroad; people do care.

When Maithreepala Srisena says a figure; for instance; 1 lakhs 75 thousand crores of rupees; people do vote. People want that magic number. Magic number works. You may not bring it back to the country; but people do enjoy the magic number and vote for you.
________________________________________________________
Historically, during the British rule and even during the ethnic struggle; rest of the world respect Sri Lankans.

Arthur C. Clarke lived there his entire life. Sri Lankans used to excel in education; culture; and so many fronts.

Now, ever since Mahinda Rajapaksa came into the stage, Sri Lankans lost their respect in the international stage.

Sri Lanka is not Afghanistan.
Sri Lanka is not Iraq.
Sri Lanka used to be one of the favorite nation for all in the British Empire.

Boat Mail  was the innovation of the British. In fact, the British engineers even explored under the sea railway to connect Rameswaram with Mannar.

Ceylon radio was world class standard. Binaca Geeth Mala - everybody enjoys it.

As soon as the war was over, the world was eagerly waiting for Sri Lanka to return to its original nature. But that didn't happen. The international community did give a long rope and enough time to correct his mistakes.

Now, the international community come to a conclusion; Mahinda Rajapaksa would never understand the native, original Ceylon culture. In British empire, Sri Lanka was the best.
___________________________________________________________
So, coming to the free, independent institutions of Sri Lanka...

For Chandrika Kumaratunga, the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka said 'No' for her request to add one year period to her second term.

So, the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka...once upon a time, could act with total freedom; not any more.

Right now, Mahinda Rajapaksa write the judgment; Supreme Court judges read those statement.

Election commission does not function with total freedom.

But now, all institutions are revolting against Mahinda Rajapaksa and his family.
With larger initiative on the island, Mahinda Rajapaksa had already lost control over these institutions.
If Mahinda Rajapaksa fails to realize this truth; he could blame his powerful brother Gotabhaya only.

So, Mahinda Rajapaksa cannot continue till 19 November, 2016 as the President.
____________________________________________________________
On January 9, 2015, Mahinda Rajapaksa and his family would leave is a special plane to an unidentified location; it may be Cuba. They would spend their rest of the life over there. The international community would facilitate the safe exit for Mahinda family.

That is what happen to King of Iran and so many other royal families. Royal cannot go on forever.

You cannot hide your royal way of living. Right now, Mahinda Rajapaksa cut-out is higher than Buddha statue. Number of Buddha statues are less than number of cut-outs.

So, only one way out for Mahinda. Pass a resolution on the floor of the parliament; abolish the Executive Presidency; become a King; appoint a Prime Minister; just like the old British model of King George V or IV.
____________________________________________
So, pack your baggage and have a safe exit with all your family members.
Mahinda Rajapaksa may become a monk and spread Buddhism in your new location such as Cuba.

The people of Sri Lanka should be thankful and grateful to Twitter and Facebook.

MoU with people of Sri Lanka

The presidential election is declared in Sri Lanka. But no candidate has published any manifesto.

No manifesto from Mahinda Rajapaksa. No manifesto from Maithreepala Srisena.

All you see is MoU. Memorandum of Understanding between Maithreepala Srisena and Rani Wickramasinghe.

Manifesto is a MoU between candidates and people. But, Sri Lankan politicians have no concern about the people; they are worried about their own political future.

Had it been United States of America, people care about the political debate between the candidates. But in Sri Lanka, there would be no debate between Mahinda Rajapaksa and Maithreepala Srisena. Perhaps, let them start the process now.

Let there be a debate between the presidential candidates; let there be a debate between MR and MS. Let the world watch the debate.

In India, there is no presidential election; India continues with the Westminister parliamentary system.

Thank goodness. Sri Lanka don't have the Westminister parliamentary system. Westminister system guarantees only political entertainment; no action.

Had they adopted Westminister parliamentary system, Mahinda Rajapaksa would have been the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka.

Prime Minister of Sri Lanka would not have got the majority votes in the parliament to launch a full scale war against the people of north; so, the three decades status quo, would have continued for two more decades.

Prime Minister of Sri Lanka; no way; could have launched all these economic activities in Sri Lanka.

Executive President only could achieve all these results. Westminister system is only for political entertainment.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi couldn't achieve any of his goals in the Westminister system. It has been dragging Narendra Modi backwards.

The very first thing is, Westminister system does not guarantee stability; it causes more chaos and confusion.

Had Narendra Modi been the Executive President of India, without much effort, Narendra Modi could have taken the country forward.

Now, Narendra Modi spends more time in worrying about stability of the central and state governments; Modi now asks for absolute majority from the people.
____________________________________________

In Sri Lanka, right now, no leader talks about the issues of people and they have no plan of action to address people issues.

The main focus is all about MoU between MS & RW

It's time, they should think about people. They should address about people issues in their manifesto.

For example, they could publish manifesto like:

  • bringing back black money from foreign bank accounts
  • action against 2G corruption
  • IIT and IIM for all provinces
  • Free laptop for all students
  • Free meals at schools
  • Holidays on every Full moon and every Amavasai too
  • making Sri Lanka as a Developed nation by 3050
  • other creative, innovative policy and promises
It's time; political leaders; better talk about the people.
If people don't suffer, then they would not change the government.

People are also just like you; self-centered.
People would come to the street, if they suffer.
People won't come to the street, for your future.
So, just like MoU between various partners, you need to publish a MoU for the people.

By voting to you, what do people gain?
It is a business. You need to buy their vote.
You need to give them something; then they would give you the vote.

That something could be $5 per vote as a short term gain;
or better future as a long term policy.

You're running out of time.
So, it is time, you need to look beyond your political friends to the people of Sri Lanka.

The Royal Family of Sri Lanka

Right now, in Sri Lanka, it is:

  • democracy by the royal Rajapaksa family
  • democracy of the royal Rajapaksa family
  • democracy for the royal Rajapaksa family
It is now being transformed into:
  • democracy by Sri Lankan politicians
  • democracy of Sri Lankan politicians
  • democracy for Sri Lankan politicians
After a few more decades, it would be transformed into:
  • democracy by the people of Sri Lanka
  • democracy of the people of Sri Lanka
  • democracy for the people of Sri Lanka
The President Mahinda Rajapaksa has effectively used two names:
  • Prabhakaran
  • Buddha
Mahinda Rajapaksa had eliminated Prabhakaran once for all. That was a serious mistake. Had Mahinda Rajapaksa let Prabhakaran go abroad, Mahinda Rajapaksa and his entire family could rule Sri Lanka for their entire life and future generations too. Mahinda could have continued his propaganda against Prabhakaran and continue to protect his people. Nobody could challenge Mahinda for ever.

Right now, as Prabhakaran is no more, there is no need for Mahinda. People are ready to accept any politicians to be the President of Sri Lanka now.

Coming to Buddha... Not Buddha's teaching. Mahinda and his family do not care to follow Buddha's teaching; they never give up any ambitions.

Mahinda and his family have been misusing Buddha to their advantage. In the name of Buddha, they exploit the people of Sri Lanka. Nobody from Rajapaksa family become monks; but they encourage poor family to send their kids to monastery.

Except Gotabhaya, nobody from Rajapaksa family served in the challenging time in military.

Mahinda Rajapaksa corrupt other politicians and continue to blackmail them when they go against the family. Right now, all politicians, including from his own party, are joining together to bring the family rule to an end.

With this effort, Sri Lanka would be transformed into democracy for all politicians.

Once Mahinda Rajapaksa gone, all politicians have equal opportunity to reach the top.

That is the reason, all politicians of Sri Lanka join hands together. They do have their own differences; but for their own future, for now, they set aside their differences and start working together.

Once Mahinda Rajapaksa gone, they would challenge each others.

That is the reason, members of his own party are revolting against Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Right now, Mahinda Rajapaksa is left alone; no politicians are with Mahinda.

It is a too much risk for all those politicians. They have challenged Mahinda Rajapaksa. They cannot go back. They need to capture the power. If they fail to do so, the after effect would be the worse.

Most of the time, politicians hesitate to take any risk, thinking about the after-effect. But, these politicians took the risk. It is a huge risk. It is all about their life and death.

Only Twitter and Facebook could save the life of Sri Lankan politicians.

Unconstitutional Authority

Sri Lanka democracy system is not as good as United States of America.

Sri Lanka is not as bad as North Korea.

But, Sri Lanka is in a confused state.

The President Mahinda Rajapaksa is one of the best politician in the world. As a politician, Mahinda Rajapaksa made a growth from ordinary party members to nation leadership position. Other politicians would feel comfortable in working with or confronting Mahinda Rajapaksa. As a politician, Mahinda Rajapaksa play the game as per the rule.

The real threat in Sri Lanka is, Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. Gotabhaya is not a politician. Gotabhaya is not even a member of any political party. Gotabhaya is not a member of Parliament. Gotabhaya is not a minister in the cabinet.

Gotabhya doesn't believe in any of this system. But, in Sri Lanka Gotabhaya has unlimited, unconstitutional power and authority. Absolutely no constitutional responsibility; no accountability.

No MP; no judicial system; no citizen could question Gotabhaya. That is the real issue of current Sri Lanka.

All those politicians, Maithreepala Srisena, Ranil Wickramasinghe, Chandrika Kumaratunga - they could challenge and confront with Mahinda Rajapaksa. But on the background, they need to confront with Gotabhaya. That is the challenge for current day Sri Lanka politicians.

Politicians in Sri Lanka could easily take on all other members of Mahinda Rajapaksa family; except Gotabhaya.

So, the political leaders of Sri Lanka need to list out current challenges of Sri Lanka. In that list, unconstitutional authority of Gotabhaya would be top in the list; one step higher than the Executive Presidency.

The President Mahinda Rajapaksa could shake hands with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and agree to all demands of India. But the truth is, Mahinda Rajapaksa has to consult with Gotabhaya for implementation. That was the main reason, in the international stage, no leaders could take Mahinda's commitment seriously. It would be better if Narendra Modi could talk to Gotabhaya, the unconstituional authority of Sri Lanka.

So, Sri Lankans politicians need to challenge the unconstitutional authority and power of Gotabhaya. For obvious reason, they cannot do it; so nothing going to change in Sri Lanka. All these political entertainments would come to an end with the election on January 8., 2015.

Mahinda Rajapaksa would continue as the President for the third term; and Gotabhya would continue as the Secretary of Defense. But, the politicians need to face the after effect for challenging the president for their rest of the life.

So, Sri Lanka is a democracy for outside world; internally, the suffering continues for the people.

Military Intelligence for whole island

The Indian general election of 2014 was held to constitute the 16th Lok Sabha, electing members of parliament for all 543 parliamentary constituencies of India. Running in nine phases from 7 April to 12 May 2014, it was the longest election in the country's history.

Indian Election Commission now practices slow phase election schedule; not in a hurry; not in one day. This strategy avoids all kinds of polling day violence; booth capturing and other threats. Election commission could deploy enough security forces for free and fair election. Political parties also started behaving good. Any bad incident would affect the image of that political party and also affect their potential in the next phases. Enough security could be deployed in each location on different schedule dates. Media could effectively cover polling process. Nowadays poll violence completely come to an end in India. Political parties don't even attempt to any violence activities. People have more confidence in the election process and come in large numbers to booth and cast their vote with greater responsibility.

Now coming to military role in democracy in Sri Lanka...

Military have been so effective in the northern and eastern part of the nation. Military intelligence cover all political leaders, all spiritual and religious leaders, all other activists and citizens too. Military do occupy more parts of this region and also involved in civil services activities too. With the military presence, the elected Provincial government in north region couldn't function with total freedom and independence.  Military have been deployed on the roads; inside the university and all other spy activities too.

Citizens living in north, have seen more violence for many decades. So, now they try to live their life. They do co-operate with military and other security forces and live life as it is. From their perspective, the situation is not the best; but it is not the worst; so they just take it as it is; no complaints.

So,  government face absolutely no challenge from the people of northern and eastern regions. Right now, the government face challenges from the rest of the island; from their own friends and colleagues; from their own spiritual leaders.

Right now, government don't face any challenges from the military. The Mahinda Rajapaksa government could now trust and rely on military forces only.

It is so surprise; one monk said; that monk has been the mastermind for this curent crisis. In Sri Lanka, monks are very active in politics. Do monks have voting rights?

In fact, Sri Lanka monks follow the path of Buddha. In the early part of life, Buddha was a king. Then Buddha left the kingdom and gave up politics. Sri Lanka monks follow the early part of the life of Buddha. Sri Lanka monks are very active in politics.

So far, Mahinda Rajapaksa had to rely on police intelligence for the central, western and souther parts of Sri Lanka. Police intelligence miserably failed in Sri Lanka. Police intelligence failed to capture information on all these current developments.  Now, Mahinda Rajapaksa left with no option. Mahinda Rajapaksa has to replace police intelligence with military intelligence.

Right now, when you walk on the roads in Jaffna, you would see lot of military personnels with machine guns. From December 2014 onwards, that would be the situation in all parts of Sri Lanka. Whether you are in Kandy or Colombo, you would see military personnels with machine guns every where in Sri Lanka.

It is not an easy task. Military in Sri Lanka is the most complex and challenging one. In India, you could depute soldiers in any part of India; you could ask the soldiers to serve in Darjeeling or Kashmir or Mumbai or Madurai. But not in Sri Lanka.

In Sri Lanka; it is so sad; we need to use all those divisive labels in making things clear to all. In Sri Lanka, people carry divisive labels such as Tamil and Singala. In Sri Lanka, only Singala people could join in the military. It is quite natural for the Singala military to act against Tamil civilians. There has been no challenge at all. It has been so easy for the Sri Lanka military to manage people in the northern region.

Now, Sri Lanka is facing new challenge and crisis. Singala military has to act against Singala civilians. It would not be easy for Sri Lanka soldiers. Sri Lanka military would revolt against Mahinda Rajapaksa government.

Every challenge has an innovative opportunity. Mahinda Rajapaksa has the solution on hand. Karuna. Karuna is the best friend of Mahinda Rajapaksa. The President could appoint Karuna as a military general and give the responsibility to manage the challenges in central and southern part of Sri Lanka. Karuna has military experience; could recruit Tamil soldiers and use them against the people of southern Sri Lanka.

So, Mahinda Rajapaksa could not use the current military to manage the current crisis. Currently all politicians are revolting against Mahinda Rajapaksa; all monks are against Mahinda Rajapaksa; now the military would revolt against Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Only way out to escape from the current crisis is just cancel the election and quietly rule Sri Lanka for the next two years. Blame it on Pope. As Pope is visiting, let us postpone the election indefinitely.

National Government right now

In United States, the election dates are fixed. The period is fixed. They don't have any snap polls. Even in crisis, their constitution offers a stable democratic government. No confusion at all.

Those founding fathers of United States of America; not just their citizens, but also the whole world respects and regards those visionary human beings. They could build a system, three hundred years ago, taking everything into consideration. The best of the best in democracy system; no defects. The current day chaos in American system is the misinterpretation of the constitution; such as, primary election and its elimination process; and so on. The United States constitution doesn't authorize any political party and its all associated practices such as, primary election. Even three hundred years ago, they didn't introduce any election symbols; their citizen could read the names of the candidates and could cast their vote. In India, it is an insult to the intelligence of the citizen, to have symbols on those electronic voting machine.

In India,  when the election is announced, the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said that he will step down after his country's national elections due in May.

"In a few months' time, after the general election, I will hand the baton over to a new prime minister," Singh told a news conference in New Delhi.

In Sri Lanka; don't just blame Mahinda Rajapaksa. Earlier, Chandrika Kumaratunga did try to abuse the constitution by announcing poll earlier and asked for adding one year to the second term.

The whole sufferings of the citizens of Sri Lanka, right from 1947 - is mainly due to the confusion of political system. Had they practiced 'all citizens are equal' policy right from 1947, they would not had to undergo all those sufferings of civil war.

At least now, have the policy; may not for citizens; but for candidates. Let all candidates be equal; let them have equal rights for the election.

So, let the President Mahinda Rajapaksa resign and may act as an interim president till the announcement of the election results; if Mahinda Rajapaka has confidence in himself and in his performance.

But now, more than confidence, the President Mahinda Rajapaksa has fear. All his actions are born out of fear. So, Mahinda Rajapaksa would never resign and would not select the role of interim president.

But the field has to provide equal rights and opportunities to all candidates; then only the election would be fair and free.

So, dismiss the Executive President now, as the election has been announced and form an interim National Government now; yes right now.

In any democracy, the legislature has the power. So, in legislature pass a resolution to dismiss the Executive President and form an interim National Government now.

No need for National Government after the election; after the election, let the President have a free hand in selecting her  or his cabinet.

But now, form the National Government.

Challenge the system; in the court; in the legislature; and on the street.

Imran Khan has been a model for emerging democracy; fight on the street.

Member of Parliament Mangala Samaraweera said; the MoU about the deal of making Ranil as the Prime Minister would be signed on the road on next Monday.

So, challenge the system; let the world know about the democracy in Sri Lanka.

It would be meaningful to boycott this election, if Mahinda Rajapaksa continue to be the Executive President during the election process. Out of fear of defeat, Mahinda Rajapaka would misuse and abuse all the democratic institutions such as, Election Commission, Judicial Legal system, Parliament to win the election. It will not be a fair and free election. President Mahinda Rajapaksa would fix the result; even if the results go against Mahinda Rajapaksa, you cannot ask him to vacate the seat. Mahinda Rajapaksa would continue to be the President till 19 November 2016.

So, act now and go for an interim National Government right now.

Then all players on the filed would be equal. Let Mahinda Rajapaksa take this as a challenge and contest the election on his strength in free and fair way. In that manner, if Mahinda Rajapaksa contest and win the election, the world would respect him.

Not sure, whether God would bless Mahinda or not; but the Pope would visit Ceylon and would bless Mahinda.

On the other hand, if the world have to witness violence on the streets of Colombo, the Pope would cancel the visit.

So, go for an interim National Government right now.

No New Government in January 2015

First Term:
Election date: 17 November, 2005
Swearing In date: 19 November 2005

Second Term:
Election date: 26 January, 2010
Swearing In date: 19 November, 2010

Third Term:
Election date: 8 January, 2015
Swearing In date: 19 November, 2015

No Third Term:
Election date: 8 January, 2015
End date: 19 November, 2016
___________________________________________________
President Chandrika Kumaratunga had called the 1999 election one year ahead of schedule; she argued that the extra year should be appended to her second term, and filed suit do to this. The Supreme Court of Sri Lanka rejected her claims and the election went ahead.
___________________________________________________________________

There will be no new government in January 2015.
Even after the election...
Mahinda Rjapaksa win or lose; it doesn't matter.
Till 19 November, 2016, Mahinda Rajapaksa is the President of Sri Lanka.

All these National Government for 100 days; no way.

Earlier they said; eliminate the Executive Presidency in 100 days and make Ranil as the Prime Minister.

Now, they modified their goals and say, we would form a National Government for 100 days and do reforms that are possible. They do not publish a list of reforms, that they plan to accomplish in 100 days.

Soon, they would quit.
_____________________________________________________________

One good thing that has happened in Sri Lanka.
Now, in 2014, all citizens of Sri Lanka are equal.
Not by constitutional; but by Mahinda Rajapaksa's action.

All citizens; without any exceptions; are equal in Sri Lanka.
Freedom is denied to all;
Freedom is denied not just the people in the north, but also for the entire island.
As there is no freedom for citizens, all are now slaves.
Except the President and his family all are slaves.
Even cabinet ministers are slaves.
The difference is between comfortable slaves and uncomfortable slaves.
Cabinet ministers are comfortable slaves; others are uncomfortable slaves.
___________________________________________________________
All these early poll and its related activities have been happening; they are advantage to Mahinda.  All conspiracies are out. What the intelligence couldn't deliver, the poll announcement brought all conspiracy out. With this poll announcement, Mahinda could come to understand the conspiracy that has been going on against his rule.

Till now, Mahinda Rajapaksa has not resigned. Mahinda would never resign.

Even if, Maithreepala Srisena win the election; as per constitution, Srisena would be known as President-elect; not as the President.

In United States, the election happens on November 4. By evening, the results would be out. The winning candidate would be addressed as President-elect. The President-elect may have to wait for two months before take charge from the outgoing president.

So, no change of government - in the month of January.

Let Rajapaksa family rule for two more decades

Let Mahinda Rajapaksa continue to be the Executive President of Sri Lanka. Let Mahinda serve the nation for third term; and then his family rule for two more decades.

Already Mahinda Rajapaksa had been the President for a decade; let them rule for two more decades; in total, let the people of Sri Lanka undergo the pain and suffering for three decades.

People in the north had been suffering for three decades. Rest of the people didn't understand their sufferings. Now, with Mahinda Rajapaksa presidency, the rest of the people understand the need for freedom and basic human rights.

This is not enough. Let all people of Sri Lanka suffer for two more decades. Then they would realize the sufferings of the people of the north.

These Rajapaksa brothers invest the entire tax money on two things. One is military; other is on monks.

They need military to control the people in the north and the east.

They need monks to control the people in the rest of the country.

Youth have only two options in Sri Lanka. Either they could become a monk; or become a soldier.

Both investment consumes huge wealth from tax payers money; but absolutely no return on this investment.

Let the status quo in Sri Lanka continue.

Because the new common candidate Maithripala Sirisena is in a state of confusion.

Maithripala Sirisena said; he will eliminate the Executive Presidency in 100 days; and make Ranil  Wickramasinghe the Prime Minister.

This statement is not clear; in fact, it contradicts; then what will Maithripala Sirisena would do.

Will Maithripala Sirisena be the Health Minister in Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe's cabinet.

Mahinda Rajapaksa is a known person; the whole world knows about Mahinda Rajapaksa; it is better to go with known leader rather than with an unknown  Maithripala Sirisena.

More over, Maithripala Sirisena is not standing on his own strength; there are more people at the background.

Maithripala Sirisena would be the Manmohan Singh and Chandrika Kumaratunga will be Sonia Gandhi.

The political problems of Sri Lanka are:

  • all citizens pay equal taxes
  • so, all citizens are equal
  • if, all citizens are not equal, then it doesn't matter, whether it is President X or Y
  • delegate power to the Provincial Council and local governments
Executive President is not a problem. Empower the citizens of Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka is not a small country as Singapore; you cannot effectively govern Sri Lanka with a centralized power with the Executive President.

Let the Executive President take care of business outside with the international community.

Let the Provincial Council manage the daily affairs of the local people.

The End of Family Rule in Sri Lanka

Sirisena’s letter – a red light for Rajapaksas

It is reported that the Secretary General of the SLFP Minister Maithripala Sirisena has, in writing, asked the President why preparations are being made to hold a sudden presidential election when his term ends in two more years.

The internal conflicts in the government have developed rapidly after the Uva PC election and many seniors in the SLFP have expressed opposition to holding a presidential election before President’s 6 year term ends. The written query by the Secretary General of the SLFP would have been influenced by the forces opposing Rajapaksas point out political analysts adding that Minister Sirisena would not resort to such an action on his own.

In his letter Minister Sirisena asks why a presidential election is held when promises made at the previous presidential election had not been fulfilled and suggests it would be better if the election is held after fulfilling the promises.

Minister Sirisena too is a senior in the SLFP who has been harassed by Rajapaksa family regime. Political analysts say a large number in the government are preparing to publicly act against Rajapaksa family rule in the near future. They say the letter from Minister Sirisena is a signal for what is in store for the regime.

Sri Lanka election: Health chief to challenge Rajapaksa

The move by Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena is a major political setback for the president ahead of the January vote.

Mr Sirisena was one of the most powerful men in the ruling party.

Five other government MPs have also announced their defections. Rajitha Senaratne, Duminda Dissanayake, Rajiva Wijeysinghe, MKDS Gunawardena and Vasantha Senanayaka have all decided to back Mr Sirisena in the 8 January election.

He also has the backing of the main opposition UNP in the poll as well as the support of former President Chandrika Kumaratunga. Correspondents say that Friday's dramatic developments are likely to split President Rajapaksa's Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP).

In a news conference, Mr Sirisena said that Sri Lanka was heading towards a dictatorship and was blighted by rampant corruption, nepotism and the breakdown of the rule of law.

He said that the president's executive powers, the deteriorating law and order situation and Sri Lanka's weakening democratic structures were all reasons that compelled him to accept the common candidate nomination.

"The entire economy and every aspect of society is controlled by one family," he said.

Parliamentary Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa, Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa and the powerful Defence Secretary, Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, are all brothers of the president. His eldest son, Namal, is a lawmaker and head of the youth wing of the president's Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP).

_______________________________________________________

Winston Churchill 1945 election is the best example for all politicians around the world. You could face the challenge from outside; but you fail when the challenge is from within.

Winston Churchill effectively faced the challenge from Hitler; but miserably failed to face the challenge from his own colleague, the Deputy Prime Minister Clement Attlee.

In 1945, Winston Churchill lost the election. It was a landslide victory for Clement Attlee. The Prime Minister Clement Attlee gave freedom to India, Ceylon, Pakistan and brought down the entire British empire. Clement Attlee brought the Great Britain down to Ordinary Britain. Clement Attlee is the main reason for the chaos in most part of the world like, India, Ceylon, Pakistan and Burma.

Now coming to Sri Lanka... The President Mahinda Rajapaksa failed to realize the challenge from his own colleagues. The emerging star of Sri Lanka, Srisena warned the President against having election now.

It's still not too late. The President could cancel the election and continue for the next two years. Mahinda could have someone file a PIL in the Supreme Court to challenge the decision of having frequent election with the taxpayer's money. In that way, the president could get over with the current crisis.

In India, it is Shiv Sena; in Ceylon, it is Srisena challenging the ruling party. When the entire opposition of Sri Lanka had gone weak and ineffective, the challenge comes from within. Don't assume that there would be no challenge. Challenge is always there.

Sarath Fonseka is not an effective politician. This Srisena, the very first move is very effective. Srisena offer the Prime Minister post to Ranil. That is the best move. If Rajapaksa could break that deal, it would go advantage to Rajapaksa; otherwise, Rajapaksa couldn't stop the momentum.

India influence all the neighbors; The people of India voted against family rule; that action would influence Sri Lanka.

The world would have ignored the election in Sri Lanka had there been no surprise. But now, the world is watching closely the developments in Sri Lanka.

Mahinda Rajapaksa could declare himself as a King and could continue with the family rule. But in the name of democracy, Mahinda Rajapaksa could not continue with his usual style.

Looking at the challenge of Imran Khan in Pakistan, Mahinda Rajapaksa had decided to go for an early election. That action, that is born out of fear; that action itself is bringing Mahinda Rajapaksa down.
