Innovation in Indian Politics

A few decades ago, our grandfathers and grandmothers couldn't read and write. That was the reason, election symbol was introduced. Now, in this era of mobile internet, all citizens could very well read and write. They don't need election symbols. They could read the candidate name and could cast their vote on their favorite candidates.

The symbol looks so ugly on that state-of-the-art advanced electronic voting machine. Get rid of that symbol. Let people read the names of the candidate and cast their vote.

Even if people couldn't read, the candidates will take effort to teach people to read their name. Name of the candiate, you could print it in local languages too.

The people who couldn't read the names; they shall take help from authorized persons. They could help them to read the names of the candidate.

Once the symbols are gone, people will start looking at the candidates.

In the last election, nobody knows the candidate of the person they had voted. They didn't pay any attention of the name of the candidate; character of the candidate. They just cast their vote on that symbols.

All these traditional political parties have invested heavily on their election symbol. It is like Coca Cola and Pepsi. Once the election symbols are gone, all their investments would be gone.

Then all parties would have to promote their candidate; people would then look at the character of the candidate. The youth would agree to take up this challenge to cast their vote without the help of an election symbol. Somehow, they will manage to read the names of the candidate and will vote for the right candidate.

In addition, the youth would volunteer to teach others about read; at least the names of the candidates.

In that way, all our energy would not go waste in promoting the symbol all over the town and cities. We highlight the symbol and push the candidate back; then we realize that some criminal is now representing them in the parliament.

Politically, this will be a huge advantage for young political parties. It is Gandhi technique.

The British had invested heavily on weapons.Gandhi couldn't invest on weapons. So, Gandhi invented a new weapon, that was 'non-violence.'

So, when all political parties invested on symbols, new political parties could get rid of it.

As they have been used to symbols, they may see this as a challenge.

People would start looking at the candidate face; his or her character; then the skills; then people would ask the candiate directly about the understanding about their constituency and its challenges.

Another one is; get rid of marking ink on those fingers.

It is an insult on the character of that individual. They mark with that ink; so that you don't vote again.

Nowadays, they let the voters after verification with ID cards. Then they mark that person has already cast the vote. Then why do we need to put that ink on that finger.

Next one is; get rid of this majority and related number game.

Let the people directly elect the Mayor, Chief Minister and the Prime Minister.

Why do they need to depend on the majority and number game.

In that way, we would not have landed in the current situation for Delhi.

Even if we have another election, what is the chance that someone would get the majority.

So, let the people directly elect the Delhi Chief Minister.
